About the event
A Death Cafe is a social gathering of people, often strangers from many walks of life, organized for the purpose of discussing death, without any formal agenda or commercial pressures. Anyone can attend and chat informally about different aspects of death, over tea and cake, with a goal of making the subject less taboo and scary. Death Cafes were pioneered by Jon Underwood in the U.K., based on the work of Swiss Sociologist Bernard Cretaz. First held in the U.S. by Lizzy Miles, they are now popular all over the world.
Death Cafe is free and open to the public so come on by. This event will be facilitated by Grace Bella Harmon and Liz Dunnebacke:
Grace Bella Harman (she/her) - Grace Bella Harman is a licensed therapist and Embodied Grief practitioner who works with individuals, caregivers, therapists, and other healthcare professionals, to develop skills for remaining open-hearted through the grieving process. Grace is the creator of The Grief Village; you can read more about her work at gracebellaharman.com.
Liz Dunnebacke (she/her) - Liz Dunnebacke is the Executive Director of Wake and a community deathcare provider, working to reduce barriers to access to meaningful, affordable, sustainable deathcare in the U.S. and abroad.
