November Community Deathcare Meeting

Holt Cemetery is the only option for affordable burial in the greater New Orleans area, and the only city-operated burial ground that is still selling new plots. Even though Holt has been over-used since the 1980s, and is critically beyond capacity, recent efforts to open new cemetery space were shut down by loud NIMBY protests. Where can we bury our dead with dignity in New Orleans? Let's talk about it.

Wake’s monthly Community Deathcare Meeting is open to anyone working in end-of-life care in the New Orleans area, as a volunteer or professionally, and to anyone interested in doing that work. It’s an opportunity to meet each other, to share resources, and to explore how we can support each other in meeting the needs of our community.
