About the event
Legados de Luisiana / Luisiana Legacies is an oral history series aiming to preserve and increase the visibility of the lived experiences of Louisiana's Latin American immigrant elders. It's a collaboration between Wake and journalist and doula Carolina Murriel, whose practice Barro y Luna harnesses the healing qualities of clay and storytelling.
Carolina interviewed Ana Ester Gershanik and Mayra Pineda, two cornerstones of New Orleans' Latin American community, and produced legacy projects for them in the form of oral histories. Join us on Wednesday, May 15 at 6pm to hear an excerpt and celebrate the launch of Legados de Luisiana, co-hosted by Puentes New Orleans.
